If you have not taught an adult education class with us before, you need to fill out the teacher application form. You will also need to fill out two forms at school district office at 132 South B Street.
All prospective teachers must submit a class planning form for each of the classes they want to teach.
The adult education director will create a contract for you to sign setting the terms of your employment.
Most classses are held at Washington School. Washington School has several classrooms, a computer lab and a gymnasium. However, classes can be held anywhere. Some classes are held in other schools. Some are held outside. Some are held at a teacher's house.
Classes can take place anytime. Weekdays or weekends. Morning, afternoon or evening.
Teachers, with help from the LivingstonACE director, set the maximum number of students. All classes must have a minimum number of students to run. Typically the number is 3-5 students. It depends upon the teacher's wage and the cost of the class.
The fall catalog will be ready for print in late September and will advertise classes that happen in the October through December timeframe.
The spring catalog will be ready for print in January and will advertise classes that happen in the January through May time frame.
Teachers are paid $15-$22 per hour depending on education, experience, the length of the class and the number of students enrolled in their class. Teachers must submit a timecard at the end of the class. They are paid on the 10th of the month following their last class. The chart below shows the various wages for teachers starting at $15/hour based upon both length of class and number of students.
